Gentle, preventative dentistry for your children
Children's dentist
Build healthy habits from their firth tooth with supportive paediatric dentistry for children in the heart of Plymouth.

Children’s dentistry with Plymouth City Centre Dental Practice
Children’s dentistry focuses on helping young patients feel comfortable at the dentist while protecting their oral health as they grow. At Plymouth City Centre Dental Practice, we provide gentle, preventative dental care for children of all ages, supporting healthy teeth from the earliest visits through to adolescence.
We take time to explain things clearly, work at your child’s pace, and help parents understand how to look after their child’s teeth at home. This approach builds confidence, reduces anxiety, and helps prevent dental problems later on.

What is children’s dentistry?
Children’s dentistry, sometimes called paediatric dental care, focuses on maintaining and protecting children’s teeth as they develop. This includes regular check-ups, monitoring growth, preventative advice, and early treatment where needed. Seeing a dentist from a young age helps children build positive habits and makes dental visits part of normal routine care.

How much does it cost to take my child to the dentist?
Children’s dental care costs vary depending on the type of treatment needed and how often your child attends. We’ll always explain the costs clearly before treatment begins, so you know exactly what to expect.
We also offer a pay-monthly Children’s Dental Care Plan to make looking after your child’s teeth simple and affordable. The plan includes regular check-ups, preventative cleaning, and oral health guidance, with appointments arranged to fit around school and family commitments. No initial check-up is required, making it easy to get started and maintain consistent care over time.

Does my child need to go to the dentist?
Yes. Children should start visiting the dentist as soon as their first teeth appear, or by their first birthday. Regular dental visits allow us to check how your child’s teeth are developing, spot potential issues early, and help your child become familiar with the dental environment.
You should also bring your child to the dentist outside of routine check-ups if they experience toothache, sensitivity, swelling, trauma to the teeth, or changes in eating habits. Early assessment helps prevent small problems from becoming more uncomfortable or complex later on.
