Bone grafts with Plymouth City Centre Dental Practice

When teeth have been missing for some time, your jaw bone can gradually shrink. A dental bone graft allows us to rebuild that lost bone, creating the support you need for dental implants and helping protect the long-term health of your jaw.

At Plymouth City Centre Dental Practice, bone grafting is carefully planned as part of your wider treatment. We'll explain why grafting is recommended, how it fits into your implant journey, and what healing looks like — so you feel informed and reassured at every stage.

What is a dental bone graft?

A dental bone graft rebuilds areas of jaw bone that have reduced due to tooth loss, infection, or trauma. During the procedure, we place graft material into the affected area, allowing your body to regenerate new bone over time. We may suggest a dental bone graft to restore facial structure, or to provide a solid foundation for dental implants.

Some patients also need a sinus lift (also called sinus augmentation). This increases bone height in the upper jaw so implants can sit securely. We choose the technique based on your anatomy and your long-term implant plan.

How much does a dental bone graft cost?

The cost of a dental bone graft depends on how much bone we need to rebuild and whether the treatment includes a procedure such as a sinus lift. We explain all costs clearly before treatment begins, so you know exactly what’s involved and can make an informed decision.

After your assessment, we provide a personalised treatment plan with a full cost breakdown. To help you spread the cost, we offer finance through Tabeo. You can choose 0% finance over 10 or 12 months, or longer-term options of up to 60 months where interest applies. This gives you control over how and when you proceed with treatment.

Healing and next steps

We monitor healing closely and plan implant placement when the bone is ready.

Do I need a dental bone graft?

You may need a dental bone graft if your jaw doesn’t have enough healthy bone to support an implant safely. This often happens when teeth have been missing for a long time, after infection, or following trauma.

A bone graft prepares your mouth for successful implant treatment. We recommend grafting only when it improves stability, predictability, and long-term results.

Your dentist will assess your individual needs and recommend the best solution for protecting and improving your oral health. They’ll also explain other options such as sinus augmentation, sinus lift surgery, and bone augmentation.

Dental bone grafts in Plymouth from experienced dental surgeons

We’ve served Plymouth for over 30 years, supporting patients with complex restorative care, implantology, and oral surgery. Bone grafting at the practice forms part of carefully planned implant treatment, not a standalone procedure.

Our in-house implantologist, Tom Olivelle, plans and carries out bone grafts and sinus lift procedures as part of implant-led treatment. Tom has been placing implants since 2002 and holds a Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the University of Warwick. He plans grafting with long-term stability in mind, using detailed imaging and staged surgical planning.
